Eeeeekk!

To start off I wanted to show Chef these bows I made for the Princess yesterday. They were a bribe so she wouldn't be upset about missing her field trip. She's been sick with the flu and running a fever so no school = no field trip.

She loves the Frankenstein on them. (btw How does my 5 yr old know about Frankenstein? LOL)

I've seen these blocks all over the blogs and DIY threads on message boards and finally I was roaming through Micheal's the other night with the kids and saw the 2" sq blocks for $.99. Not bad. Add some scrape paper and you have a cute little decoration. All in all I spent less than $4.00 on it. Those of you who have scrapes at home would be able to make it for even less. :-)

I painted each block black. I added two letters to each block (B & E, K and O...) Than I filled in the other squares with scrapbook paper. *edited to add that YES I know it is suppose to be EEK not EKK....sorry - it was brought to my attention and I did fix my actual blocks. WHEW! How embarrassing....LOL.

That simple. Really MUCH more simple than those stinkin bows were....LOL. ;-)

Valentine's Day craft

I actually did this craft last year for Mother's Day with the daycare kids but a friend reminded me that it would be a great Valentine's Day craft also. So I figured that I would share. Aren't I nice. (Don't answer that)

So start with a beautiful subject (that's Princess) and have them hold the fake flower you're giving. Take a pic of the child holding the flower.


Then I printed the pic as a 8x10 on reg paper (I'm cheap thats why...LOL) I think glued the picture onto a piece of construction paper (to make it stiff for the flower). I sliced a tiny hole above and below her hand holding the flower. Finally you insert the flower and there you go.

Cute huh!

Homework Centers

No no not camping.

Last Spring I had this idea (or really stole this idea from a Martha Stewart book) for Homework Centers for the boys. See they always bug each other at the table and/or mess around. My friend asked me about them and I SWORE I blogged it then but apprently I hadn't. Bad bad blogger but HEY it's back to school time. What better time to get it out there for my peeps (or others peeps...LOL).

So off I was to gather my supplies......

Duct tape (in red and blue), HUGE rubber bands (multicolors), binder clips, index card boxes, and a display board.

Then I cut the huge display board in half cause really it doesn't need to be THAT big. Look at that cute little paring knife - IN PINK - of course.

Then I took the duct tape and covered the cut edges. Looks nice huh. Randomly add the large rubber bands. They make great paper holders. I even used two to hold the index card boxes on the board. Here they can put pencials and what not handy. Throw a couple of the binder clips along the top and viola! There you have it. A wonderful homework center.

Don't they look excited to get started on thier homework? Yeah they don't fool me either.

Diapers and crazy

Okay where'd my week go (not that I'm complaining). Seriously though it flew past and Friday has snuck up on me and I do not know what I have done this week. I don't. I think this stems from my 3 kids turning my brain to mush and well lets just say the 18th can't get here soon enough. They ALL go to school this year. Little Man is on to 4th, Monkey heads to 2nd and Princess will kick off at PrK. SWEET! Then I'll have some stories to share cause right now I can't think of anything that they do as cute cause I spend 99.5% of the time wanting to strangle one of them. *sigh* When's school start?

So today I actually DID do something (during naptime). As you know my sister is pg with her first child. Well she is in NY and for obvious reasons I can not attend (I am in CO and broke). So I decided to make a diaper cake and ship it over for the shower.

Okay so I did one a few years ago and it was "okay" but not AWESOME. LOL I think I found my way to AWESOME. (I did and I don't care what you say it is awesome)


So I took a old rinsed out slimfast container (took the label off of it cause I didn't want my Sissy to think she needs to be losing weight) and started wrapping size 1 diapers around it. I kept wrapping until I couldn't hold them on anymore (about 1 or 2 layers) so I added a huge rubber band and then I kept slipping more diapers in until I thought my base was big enough.

So then I rolled up and shoved a few diapers into the container. I folded a HUGE blanket into thirds and wrapped it around the diaper ring. Since my folding wasn't "perfect" I had an overlap on the top so I placed a handful of diapers on top to fill in that space.

To keep the blanket in place I used two tiny binder clips where the ends meet. (You'll need a very LONG baby blanket for this) I thought about using diaper pins so I am sure they'd work as well.

Then I placed a square lovey on top of the bottom base.

My top layer was made by rolling 4 diapers and securing them with tiny hair bands. Then I wrapped diapers around just as I did with the bottom layer. Adding a hug rubber band when I needed to hold it all together. When it reached the size I wanted a used a blanket that I folded in fourths attaching it again with two tiny binder clips. Place on top of the lovey.

Here you'd decorate as you wish. Since mine is being shipped and I have to count on others to place it all together I kept it simple and just got a carseat hanging toy and two tiny stuffies.

See isn't it cute. Cute and simple.



Now anyone know anymore baby machines cause I'd love to make more of these. The last one I made was so difficult and took forever (rolling and tying EACH diaper and then trying to tie the huge bundle together UGH). I really enjoyed this one.

Father's Day Gifts

So I saw this done on the Tip Junkie. I thought thats so cool. Of course I had to do it too. I'm such a copycat like that. LOL

I did it as a daycare project since I try to always do something for the families.
