Table update.

So we're still waiting on the table to be completed. First let me tell you a little story about the said table. It has been a PITA project. Chef has been totally negative and ugly since the thing began. It got to the point that after mulitple tries to get the stain on I called in reinforcements. IE; SARA! Let me tell you now this girl and I spent a good 30-40mins "faking" a stain finish on the freaking thing. I must say it looks great now though. So Sara - you SAVED my marriage. LOL

Then again Sara hates me now though. Why you ask? Cause she left my house brown. Her hands were completely covered in brown stain (yeah we weren't thinking clearly and didn't put on gloves - which btw being a home daycare provider I have plenty of -DUH!) Anyhoo Sara is so fair and light that we were afraid she'd never come clean. I believe she has since soaked in acid and is now clean...okay not acid persay but she is clean. LOL

Anyways our sealant is giving us issues now (always something) but we should be able to do a big reveal soon OR you can drive by next Tuesday and see if it is out on the curb for trash cause I just bought a new one...LOL.

Completed.

Below I talked about redoing my middle child's room. Well it is finally finished. We had to wait on his START to come in from Lakeside. So funny cause yesterday we put it together as is and so all I had to do was run up and add the STAR when it arrived. Needless to say he is happy with his "older" room and it didn't cost me much to change up. Which then makes Daddy happy. LOL

Before: (see here I just folded a flat sheet in half and slip stiched a rod pocket across the top - threw a cheap white rod up and there you have it)

After: (upon meeting the BBC crew...LOL - this time I folded it in 3rd's and cliped it at the top (with ends together) and slipped the rings on the cheap white rod (eventually we'll get a nicer one). To me this way looks much neater - so I'm sure I'll be changing up ODS's curtains soon...LOL) On and I realize the curtain is a "tad" short but I figure once we get a new rod we'll arrange it lower then the currant one so it'll all work out in the end.

Close up on the stripes of the "curtains" and sheets. Fell in love with this set as soon as I saw it on JCP.com. Such beauty and classic lines.

He also had a CAR's bathrug in there that I removed and a trash can he'll keep in there for now.

OH BOY!

So a lot of you know I'm redoing our dining room table (Well Shua is because he started acting like a butt and I refused to help anymore...LOL) We haven't been able to finish as the weather last weekend turned icky so we still have to put the stain on and poly the set. Here are the pics so far. (Oh and I DID do all the taping of the chairs darnit - don't let him fool you.) So our tackle this week is to get it finished in time for Easter. I will be getting some Easter Lily's if we ever finish...LOL.

So exicted that I finally have a Tackle worth sharing...LOL.
I have been inspired lately to get some house decorating done. Now I have decided to redo my middle son's room - bring it up to grow with him status. Below are links to things I have ordered or will order this week. Can't wait to get them in and up - hopefully I'll have an update for you by next Tuesday.

Here's pictures of his room NOW. (you can scroll down the page to see his curtains)

Here is the stuff I'm getting to age it up. LOL.

I'll use the flat sheet to make new curtains....using a simlar process to Lia's below.

The Princess's Curtains

Here is the before picture. Nice and boring if you ask me. LOL.

Honestly all I did it take the flat sheet from her bedding set and ironed the wrinkles out. I then used the "technical" bottom of the sheet as the top (with hers it didn't matter since it was all flowers). I folded it over about 10inches (give or take) and ironed it down. I then clipped two of the rings to each end. Then I folded the sheet length wise and lined up 4 more rings and clipped them on. After Daddy so lovingly (if you call cursing and yelling at the rod) installed the new rod The Princess picked out I placed the rings on the rod and he slapped it up there. Really he did. The curtain goes all the way to the floor. Here is how it looks now.

Thanks to our lovely military housing we couldn't get the rod up completely. There is another flower for the other end but it wouldn't fit so we left it off.

We were at Lowe's on Sat (so I could get the rings) and saw adorable girly rods. The Princess wanted the pink butterfly but I liked the purple flower better. I talked her into getting it. WHEW thank goodness I did though. I forgot what her sheet looked like and THERE'S NO PINK in it...LOL.

Inspiration Calling....

I stumbled across another blog that I think will be one of my many visited. LOL. It's The Nesting Place. She has many quick and easy ideas for home decorating. Some of it isn't me but I love the ideas. It has inspired me to share my son's bedroom curtains. LOL. Now I didn't take pictures of the progress but I have pics of the finished products for you.

My YDS has a CARs themed room (which btw I know I have to update as he is now 7 -ghoss give me a break will you).

I don't put the flat sheets on the beds as they just come off and are a PITA to replace everytime you make the bed - when you make the bed - if you EVER make your bed...LOL. So I took said Flat sheet and made the CAR's curtain. Now we're in base housing and the windows in the boys rooms are funky windows that I am NOT taking ten years to make great curtains when we'll just MOVE again and then they wouldn't fit.

The windows are such that they are WIDE but short. So I took the flat sheet and folded it in half. It was perfect then. Even had a backing so it would let less light in (great for my early riser - if the sun is peeking out then Monkey is awake). I then just hemmed (cause I got this great new sewing machine in 2006 that I rarley ever have the chance to use) a seam to thread the cheap rod through. There you go a simple and cheap custom made kids themed curtain.

Now when you hang it up don't be alarmed that one side seems "upside down". It is! Just put it to the outside window. Who cares if your nosey neighbors wonder why Lighting McQueen is upside down. It'll just add to the strange thoughts they already have about you.

Luckly for me his room is on the 2nd floor and from outside on the sidewalk you can't really tell...LOL.

Now on to my ODS's room. It's the PACKER'S PEOPLE. OH and AWE at will please. LOL (Don't bring up my baby retiring - I'm still all choked up about it)

Now his window is the same as the other one. So you are already familiar with that part. I stepped it up a notch (LOVE Emeril) though and added......drum roll please.....A PILLOW CASE! ROFL I am a dork but you'll learn to love it or get over it. Not my problem.

How did I add the pillow case you ask? Oh you ask why - sorry I got confused...LOL.

I added it because we had an extra one and since his curtain/sheets were white striped they wouldn't offer too much protection/coverage against light. Not that the pillow case covers more but darnit I wanted to add it so THERE.

Now how.... after sewing the seam for the rod I just added the pillow case (I centered it on the curtain and pinned) then I just ran a stich acroos the top to secure and removed the pins (cause we all know my 9 yr old WILL go after the pins to poke his brother with)

Here it is.

Since I'm newly inspired and I have 3 kids and my daughter has been left out of the window treatment club....LOL I will do her window this weekend. She has a normal window so it'll be different. I'm half tempted use my inspiration form the Nesting Place to try something different with her window (though I'm still using her flat sheet...LOL) Keep tuned and you shall see.

I also frequent the Bargin Board on Babycenter and those ladies have inspired me to try something fun in MY bedroom (been wanting to update it for awhile now) - might give that a go this weekend as well.
