To all of those who serve and have served. The kids school had a Veteran's Day assembly yesterday. During which my Monkey read a paper he had written about his Dad in the military.
In case you have a hard time hearing the speech I have written it out for you.
"Soldier's in the military are important to me because my Dad is an electrician in the military. First he helps us stay safe and free. He does this because he wants everyone here to have a better life. Next he cares about the U.S.A. My dad cares because he loves everyone in the U.S.A. Last he helps serve our country. Him and his partners serve our country because they are brave. The military is a great place for my Dad."
Also during the assembly Little Man received an award for having Perfect Attendance during the first quarter. So proud of my boys!

Awards Night
I'd like to thank.....
Oh wait it wasn't about me.
The boys had their Flag Football awards ceremony last night. It was long and boring...(we had to sit through all the soccer teams first) and FINALLY they got to the Football players. (course I was ticked cause all those loser soccer parents effing LEFT before they got to the Football so by then NO ONE was there except the football families. LOSERS! Some people are SO RUDE - ANYWAYS - I did say this wasn't about me. LOL)
Aren't they so freaking handsome?

Monkey being...well Monkey. LOL Excuse the crappy quality - my camera likes to PMS when I need it to take nice pics.
Little Man - now on the way there I asked him "Why are you so damn good looking?"
His reply: He fell off the curb as he was walking cause he turned to look at me with this huge grin on his face. (I know I planned it that way...LOL)
Of course the Princess was there too and wanted her picture taken with Mommy. (ignore the wide eyes - have NO idea what that is all about...LOL)

Discrimination????
Um no this is NOT a political post. LOL This is actually funny.
Okay so the boys come home today and tell me that tomorrow is "Spirit Day" and they can wear orange and blue or their uniforms. (okay side not I live near the "Bronco's"). I say wait okay so for "Spirit Day" you can only wear orange and blue but no other team colors. They both say yes. Well this bothered me. For one who says my kids have to support a team they do not like or they can't enjoy the no uniform day like everyone else. Not fair in my book. So I call the school to clarify. The Admin lady confirmed that yes it was orange and blue or uniforms. I said I didn't agree with that and she asked to take down my info so the Principle could call me back. I said okay.
Fast forward a few minutes....this is after explaining to the boys how that is discrimination against other teams other might support and it isn't okay to pick a team based on the Principle's "interests". (Little Man mentioned that the Principle likes the Bronco's).
So I am talking to Chef on the phone and I make the comment "I could understand wearing orange and blue if a member of the Bronco's was visiting their school tomorrow..." and Little Man pipes up "Well the Mascot is coming to our school tomorrow." WHAT???
You failed to mention this little bit of IMPORTANT information. GAH!
So that changes EVERYTHING. My goodness if there is a valid reason other then someone else's "likes" then hello it is fine. So I explain to them how this changes things and how they are not being forced to support a team they might not like (my boys are for Greenbay btw).
So the Principle calls me back (ut oh). I ask her if they have Bronco's visitor coming tomorrow and she says "Yes, it is the mascot for (something or other)." I say ok cause at first I was concerned about the being able to only wear orange and blue and my oldest said it was because you liked the Bronco's and that bothered me." She laughed and said "Oh I understand and if this was a reg "Spirit Day" then they would be able to choose who they wear. Also don't tell anyone but I grew up liking the Redskins but I have to be quiet since our visitor if from the Bronco's." I laughed too and replied "That I bet since she is also from a military family and half if not more of her students are in military families as well." I thanked her for calling me back.
If I haven't mentioned it lately I love this new school. The last two years has been wonderful. Everyone is very supportive and the boys are excelling (more on that later).
Oh and I am doubly glad I am a parent who checks up on things - can you imagine what Little Man would of said at school if I didn't find out the truth...LOL. Oh boy.

Football
So the boys have been playing football for the first time this year. They both have taken to it like they have been at it for years. Such naturals. Even for shorties. LOL Mush to Little Man's dismay they were given Bronco's jersey's. Anyone who knows us knows that Little Man (as the rest of us) is a avid Packers Fan. He couldn't BELIEVE that he'd have to wear a Bronco's jersey. He got over it when he was told that orange was his color...LOL. Such a vain boy.
Here's the team:
Monkey: (The photographer (not me - I was off to the side) had them looking directly at the sun for pics. Hence the squinty face.)

While I was MIA the boys stayed home with Dad so they could continue going to school and playing football. Little Man called me after the game to tell me that he made a Touch Down. They both went on to tell me that Monkey blocked for Little Man (who was playing Quarterback) so he could make a hand off pass. I'm so proud of my boys. Monkey went on to tell me that he "accidentally" tackled someone. OPPS - guess he got so caught up in the game he forgot that it was FLAG football. Posted by Party of 5 at 11:00 AM 0 comments

Homework Centers
No no not camping.
Last Spring I had this idea (or really stole this idea from a Martha Stewart book) for Homework Centers for the boys. See they always bug each other at the table and/or mess around. My friend asked me about them and I SWORE I blogged it then but apprently I hadn't. Bad bad blogger but HEY it's back to school time. What better time to get it out there for my peeps (or others peeps...LOL).
So off I was to gather my supplies......
Duct tape (in red and blue), HUGE rubber bands (multicolors), binder clips, index card boxes, and a display board.
Then I cut the huge display board in half cause really it doesn't need to be THAT big. Look at that cute little paring knife - IN PINK - of course.
Then I took the duct tape and covered the cut edges. Looks nice huh. Randomly add the large rubber bands. They make great paper holders. I even used two to hold the index card boxes on the board. Here they can put pencials and what not handy. Throw a couple of the binder clips along the top and viola! There you have it. A wonderful homework center.
Don't they look excited to get started on thier homework? Yeah they don't fool me either.

Guest Chef
So we're all sitting here doing daycareish stuff. It's time for lunch so Little Man says I'll make it. Um Okay go make lunch. Read the menu to find out what is for lunch. After a mintue he comes back and says okay. This is what I find on the counter. Um lunch is ready? Yes he says. Um so we're eating frozen fish sticks? Well I can't cook it he says. I say why not?
So then he starts reading the directions on the box. How do I turn on the oven? (LittleMan) Read the dials (Me) So he finds the right dial and spins it to a warm 475. He reads farther....arrange evenly on a baking sheet. Um whats evenly mean (LittleMan) It means to make sure they don't touch. (Me)
Then it is placed "carefully" into the slightly warm (OKAY I know it's HOT but he is 9 and I am supervising) oven.
Now what. Okay it says corn bread. Do we have corn bread? (LittleMan) Yes (Me) It's just bread with corn. (Monkey) HAHA No (Me) * I pull out two boxes of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix.
Here you go. Read the directions. (Me)
Carefully adding eggs.
Look PROOF of Little Man being nice to Monkey. He let him pour the milk in.

Mixing is HARD. (LittleMan) Meanwhile Monkey helps hold the bowl steady. Didn't you know it takes TWO to mix stuff up. DUH where you been cooking?
Okay now you scrape while I hold. AWE isn't sweet how they work together when they want FOOD!
Um, Mom can you put it in this time? (Little Man) No dear you made it you bake it. Just be careful (Me) I'll stand over here (Monkey)
So Little Man made lunch. He did a good job cause all of the kids are eating it. LOL Now he wants to know how to use the grill. Um Chef thats on YOU.

Take me out to the ballgame...
So the boys had thier first baseball game on Saturday. I couldn't go cause Princess had gymnastics. This Saturday thier game is early again but this time I will go and Chef will take the Princess. I will also get better pictures. I promise. LOL
Now let me explain that these poor boys have only had 1 practice. LittleMan was not thrilled with that fact and was a little peeved that the game was "More important" (his words) So Sara came over for some one on one practice. I took pictures as proof that she threw balls AT the boys. LOL It was funny actually so I'll share those too.
Now for their game. I spared you alot of the pics since Chef didn't feel the need to get up and move so he could get some good shots. Anyways he isn't me so I hope to have better ones for you later.
LittleMan at bat.
Monkey at bat.
Little Man on 1st. (He is number 5)
Monkey running to 1st (He is number 3)
They are 5 and 3 cause we're a family of 5 and there are 3 kids LOL get it. Yeah Yeah I know.

Let the learning began.
So we went to Mardel's tonight. The cashier said I was a wonderful mom. Not sure if my sons will agree in a few days but for now they think I'm the coolest.
I spent *gasp* $120.00 on those books to increase their knowledge and help them successed in a D11 school. LittleMan's goal next year is to get nothing below a B. He can do it. He is smart - he just plays while at school. So I have to find a way to get him to stay on track. The fact that his brother got the Honor Roll might and I say might make him try harder. We shall see. Now don't get my wrong if he was having actual issues I would understand BUT this boy knows his stuff.
